Bienvenidos a Miami.

Woke up at the crack of 5am to head to the airport. Grabbed a copy of The Godfather Mob Wars for PSP in the Denver Airport. That place always has something good. The flight from Denver to Miami went by quick (thanks to the game) and here I am. I grabbed the rental car and headed to the hotel to get some work done and settle in for the night.

The Standard Miami is definitely a different animal than it's LA counterparts. First, it's on an island behind South Beach with a great view of the Intracoastal Waterway, so it's even more chill than LA. Second, there is a huge international clientele so you don't get as many random valley crews just in town for a party. They did a great job of converting a really run down old school Miami motel into a premier destination (even keeping the old facade out front). And, as always, they've kept it simple and clean. It's crazy what a little extra consideration of design does for things.

The Standard Miami pool zone.

I walked into town to grab some food at the Cuban spot Yo and I found on our honeymoon, and checked out some shops. Walking through Miami is like walking through an issue of Wallpaper, lots of slim fitting duds and expensive sunglasses. Then again, Orange County is about the same.

Ropa Vieja from Puerto Sagua in South Beach. It may look suspect but it is one of the best meals you can ever have.

Heading to the Peter Glenn event tomorrow and I also have a few conference calls that I'll have to make from the rent-a-Taurus. Should be a long one.

One more thing. I passed this Mega-Tourist store and they had an entire beer-bong section. No shit.
Welcome to Florida.
