I stumbled across this random link the other day. Pretty insane shots of the Space Shuttle being prepared for launch. So crazy how much goes into this. I'd be stoked to see one launched in person. My stepdad made parts for it while at Moog. It's amazing to think about all of the small parts and labor from so many different places that go into getting this thing in the air.
Back in the 70's, my parents used to go out to the Mojave Desert and watch them practice landings at Edwards Air Force Base. They did this by hucking it off of the back of a 747 and letting it glide in with no engines. Whoa.
