#27.
It was a brutal end of the season battling the Sox to secure their 40th Pennant, fighting the Twins to play the Angels who had beaten us all year to play the returning Champions, The Phillies in an incredible 6 game series to bring their 27th title back to the Bronx to christen the new Stadium. After not winning a title in almost 10 years, and not even making it to the playoffs last year, it was incredible to witness my team claim the World Series Champion Title and hold my head up high as a fan. Go Yanks! See you Friday in the Parade!
MVP of the game, Hideki Matsui. It was great to see such an incredible performance in possibly his last year as a Yankee. As a free agent, it will be sad to see possibly Godzilla go, but what a way to go out.
On a short 3 days rest, Petitte pitched a gem of a game against a powerful line up of hitters. It was great to have Petitte return as a Yankee from Texas and help bring home the win in Game 6.
At almost 40 Mariano Rivera showed why he's still one of the best closers in the game. "Gotta Go To Mo".
Big thanks to the Yanks for helping us get through a rough year. With everything under the sun to complain and worry about, it was always nice to come home to watch the Yankees play to take my mind off the problems of the world. It was great to finally win after so long, but I'll miss coming home night after night with a slice and beer to watch the Game. See you in the spring.
